Western Buckles

Showing western bareback for the first time!?

a friend is letting me borrow her pretty western show shirt and western boots, and i'm going to be picking up a nice pair of black jeans tomorrow. i have gloves, a helmet, a belt buckle, and a tie... as for clothing i think i'm set. i'm going to be showing in western attire and in a western bridle because it is near impossible for me to post bareback on my bony TB gelding (trust me, i'm not being a wuss, its *really* hard! his owner and also my trainer told me i'd better see if i can do it western). i'll be working him in the new bridle tomorrow, and my trainer has been working with him in it, so i think its going to be fine. its just walk trot, and its for 4-H.

is there anything else i should know? i've never shown western before, so i'm not really familiar with what the judges are looking for and such. thanks!

Western is very similar to English as far as the seat, and you'll be neckreining with one hand since you're in a bridle (if it has shanks. If it's a snaffle, you can still show with two hands). Just make sure to keep your shoulder back, head up, sit on your pelvis, and keep those heels down and you'll be just fine.
