what is a mason and what do they stand for?

Im not talking about masonry. Im talking about a free mason and the masonic lodge. What is it and what do they stand for and believe in. On a social and christian stand point.

My father is one and he has never talked to me about this. I have never understood it or known anything about it. Please help.

freemasonry is a social fraternity that studies morality and provides more charity than any other group on the planet. nothing more and nothing less.

its members must be: male, 21yrs old, believe in a supreme being and have a sound moral character.

they study morality (as taught in the Bible) through ritual, symbol and allegory ---- that is, they have created plays to demonstrat the moral lessons of the Bible using symbols from architecture.
