My husband is having trouble with everything?
My husband seems to be having a lot of trouble lately... He wakes up at two in the morning and can't go to sleep, he isn't hungry and turns down nearly everything I give him (he is lucky if he gets 400 calories a day) and he loses his thought mid sentence. Well be talking and when he is speaking to me he just stops and stares at me blankly like he was never talking and I have to call him to snap back into reality. We are in our late 20s and I am really worried.
Have there been any stressful new changes in you or your husband's lives or routines lately?
It sounds like he is suffering from anxiety (I know because my husband has it) - it's typical to wake up in the middle of the night, early, etc. and suffer from either short-term, or, long-term insomnia which usually stems from worry or upset.
Your husband needs to find a way to sleep through the night first of all because loss of sleep will add to his anxiety and worsen everything.
Start off with some natural sleeping supplements - Highland's Calms' Forte works great for me for occasional stress/sleeplessness. If that doesn't work by itself he should take it with a Sominex. If that doesn't work try 2 Sominex plus the 2 Calm's Forte. He should also practice relaxation technique's before bed and stick to a regular bedtime, limit caffeine consumption during the day, etc.
Once he is sleeping regularly I think he will feel better. Practicing Yoga, exercising regularly, talking out problems with friends and family and practicing whatever spiritual practices you prefer all help with stress/anxiety.
Meeting with a doctor is a good idea - I recommend he see a Holistic MD first. Prescription sleeping pills/anti-anxiety pharm. drugs should only be considered as a last resort and are not recommended for long-term use. Good luck!
